Fire & Rescue NSW (FRNSW) held its annual open day on Saturday, 20 May with fire stations across the state, including Coonabarabran, swinging open the doors to the public.
The local event was well supported by families, with more than 50 people in attendance.
In addition to safety demonstrations, fire station tours and the chance to inspect fire-fighting equipment and trucks, there was a range of activities on offer for kids.
Visitors could also speak to firefighters first-hand about fire safety in the home, including how to install and maintain smoke alarms and how to develop a home escape plan to ensure they can quickly and safely escape a fire.
Local fire-fighter, Dean McKernan, helps Jace McDonough extinguish the “fire”.
