Coonabarabran TAFE New England campus has been selected as one of four locations from across NSW to facilitate a state-of-the-art Connected Learning Centre.
Connected Learning Centres are a new student- focused, digitally-enabled, next generation learning environment for students in regional areas to better access a range of TAFE NSW services.
It means students in the region are no longer restricted to courses offered at Coonabarabran campus - students will soon be able to access the suite of training offered across the entire TAFE network.
The new centre will use virtual technology and is a part of “Building a TAFE NSW for the Future” investment program.
This initiative aims to renew teaching and learning facilities and broaden its reach, so students get hands- on skills for jobs and employers get a job-ready workforce into the future.
“Today’s students expect that training will reflect the information accessibility and immediacy of their connected lives,” said Deputy Premier and Minister for Skills, John Barilaro.
“TAFE NSW is responding by delivering training where, when and how students want and in settings that resemble real-world work and social environments.”
The community- friendly Connected Learning Centres have been developed around best practice contemporary approaches to teaching and learning to provide an active learning environment where students are supported by the physical space, technology and hands-on training through mobile education units.
Member for Barwon, Kevin Humphries, said the new centre would provide students with greater accessibility, flexibility and mobility.
“The Connected Learning Centre will offer new courses and learning opportunities, a personalised and connected learning experience and better access to teachers,” Mr Humphries said.
“In the long term, TAFE NSW’s innovative learning approaches will roll out across the state bringing training and jobs to regional areas.
“The establishment of Connected Learning Centres across NSW ensures that the highest quality training and services are accessible and available to all regardless of location, background or personal circumstances.”
Due to open in July, the Coonabarabran Connected Learning Centre is part of TAFE NSW’s investment in regional areas.
