Coonabarabran branch of the Commonwealth Bank conducted a fund-raising day on Friday, 15 April, in aid of the Clown Doctors.
The Clown Doctors is a not-for-profit organisation that treats sick kids in hospital with a different kind of medicine - fun and laughter.
Staff at the Coonabarabran branch dressed for the day in fancy dress attire and conducted a raffle for a children’s trampoline.
“Our staff recognise the vital role Clown Doctors play in the lives of the children they visit, and we’re very proud to have supported them for more than 17 years,” said branch manager, Amanda Sutherland.
“Through our fund- raising day, we helped support the Clown Doctors achieve their goal of conducting more Clown Rounds in hospitals across Australia.”
Melinda Farrell, CEO of the Clown Doctors, said laughter is scientifically proven to have a positive benefit on the immune system and reduce pain and stress.
“Being in hospital as a young child brings with it a range of emotions, and we aim to share a dose of laughter with kids to help them through this often difficult time,” Ms Farrell said.
“We’d like to thank the Central and Western Area CommBank branch and those in the local community for their continued support. Your generosity will help put smiles on thousands of children’s faces.”
