The Coonabarabran Golf Club has re-affirmed its position as a family-friendly venue, following the completion of a new children’s playground.
The project was made possible thanks to ClubGRANTS funding of $5500 that was announced earlier this year.
Play equipment, comprising a swing set and slippery dip, arrived in July and the work was completed in early November.
Members of the club donated their time and energy to help bring the project to life.
Coonabarabran Golf Club licensee/secretary, Zoe Holcombe, was appreciative of the assistance shown by volunteers.
“It was a lot of hard work, especially when you work out it’s not as easy as you originally thought it would be...and things get cemented in the wrong way!” Ms Holcombe said.
“The Golf Club had to chip in an extra $2000 for the project, but I think it will be worth it in the long run.
“We are now the only licensed venue in town that has a designated area for kids to go wild outside!
“It’s nice and shady all day, there’s plenty of seating around and free barbecues for use.”
The playground is fully fenced and the area meets Australian Standards, including soft-fall material.
Feedback from children and families has been positive.
The Coonabarabran Golf Club playground will be officially opened on Sunday, 20 December during the annual Kid’s Christmas Party.
Santa has also taken time out of his busy schedule to drop by for a visit.
